We used the documentation package for a full apartment fit-out — bedroom wardrobes, a study unit, and a TV console in the living room. The drawings were thorough enough that our cabinet maker could price accurately on first look. No surprises when fabrication started. The hardware schedules were a detail we hadn't asked for but turned out to be genuinely useful when ordering.

I wanted a single piece — a walk-in wardrobe for a spare room we converted. I wasn't sure whether commissioning a full designer was warranted for that. The brief-and-sketch service was the right size: one site visit, a clear sketch, notes on the timber and hardware options I'd been considering. The whole thing took just under two weeks. I did wish there had been one more round of revisions included, but the sketch was mostly right first time.

The cabinet-maker liaison service was what made the difference on our project. We already had a contractor and a maker lined up; what we didn't have was someone who would actually be on site during installation and know what to look for. Nadia was there at the right moments, caught a tolerance issue with the kitchen island before it became a problem, and the written note at the end meant the maker had no room to dispute what was outstanding.

We've done three separate pieces over two years — the study shelving first, then a dining storage unit, and most recently bedroom wardrobes. The incremental approach works well for how we approach the house. Each time the process is straightforward: site visit, discussion, sketch or drawings depending on the piece. No pressure to do everything at once.

Detailed documentation for a kitchen cabinetry set. What stood out was how the drawings handled the awkward column in the corner — it was accounted for from the start rather than being left for the maker to figure out on site. The 3D views helped my wife and I get agreement on the layout before anything was made, which saved what would otherwise have been a lengthy revision discussion.

I work long hours and couldn't be on site during installation. The liaison service meant someone I trusted was there instead. I received regular updates and the defects note at the end was clear and well-organised. Two items needed attention; the maker resolved both within the week. The whole thing was notably less stressful than my previous renovation.

How some engagements unfolded
Case Study 01
A study unit for a home in Bangsar, approached in one piece
The starting point
The client had a spare bedroom converted to a home office. An existing desk was functional but the room had a large alcove that felt unresolved. They wanted shelving and a writing surface that would sit in the alcove properly, not just against one wall.
What was done
Brief-and-sketch service. On-site visit to measure the alcove carefully — it was not square. A sketch was produced showing how the unit could be set into the alcove with a slight reveal at the base. Materials note covered solid timber edge details and a lacquered board body for the shelves.
How it resolved
The sketch was taken to the cabinet maker the client had used previously. Fabrication and installation took three weeks. The unit fits the alcove cleanly. The client has since commissioned a bedroom wardrobe through the documentation service.
"The sketch made it very easy to explain to the maker what I wanted. There was no back-and-forth about the dimensions — the alcove being slightly off-square was already handled in the drawing." — Ahmad Z.
Case Study 02
Full documentation for a condominium renovation in Mont Kiara
The starting point
A 1,600 sq ft condominium undergoing a full renovation. The clients wanted four built-in joinery pieces: a master bedroom wardrobe, a walk-in dressing unit for the second bedroom, a kitchen cabinetry set, and a TV console with concealed storage. They had a contractor in place but no designer for the joinery specifically.
What was done
Detailed joinery documentation package. Four site visits over two weeks to measure each space accurately before drawing began. Shop drawings were prepared for all four pieces along with hardware schedules specifying Blum runners and hinges by model number. 3D views for the kitchen and master bedroom were included for the clients' approval.
How it resolved
The documentation package was handed to the contractor's preferred cabinet maker. Pricing was accurate on first submission. Fabrication and installation completed over five weeks. One item — the kitchen corner unit door clearance — required a minor adjustment during installation, which was resolved on site without further drawing work.
"Having the hardware schedules meant our maker could order everything at once before fabrication. That alone saved about two weeks in waiting time." — Rohani N.
Case Study 03
Cabinet-maker liaison for a kitchen fit-out in Kepong
The starting point
The clients had drawings from their interior designer and a cabinet maker engaged through a personal referral. What they did not have was confidence that the installation would go smoothly — a previous renovation had left them with joinery that did not close correctly and surfaces that were not flush. They wanted an independent person present during the installation.
What was done
Cabinet-maker liaison and site walks. Three site visits during the installation period. On the second visit, a tolerance issue with the overhead cabinet alignment was identified and resolved before the lower units were fixed. Final walk produced a written note with four items, all photographed.
How it resolved
All four defects items were addressed within two weeks of the final walk. The clients described the finished kitchen as the first joinery work in their home that felt completely settled. A follow-up visit was made three months later at the clients' request — no new issues were found.
"The written defects note was the part I valued most. In my last renovation everything was verbal and things got forgotten. This time there was a document and the maker knew it." — Farhana A.
